Dates for your diary

At last some good news! We are delighted to present three events at The OSO Arts Centre in Barnes, starting on 10 June with “bewitching” pianist Mei-Ting, playing music by Beethoven and Bartok.

On 8 July we bring ‘Cocktails With Vivien’ to The OSO for the first time. This new show, developed out of our hugely popular ‘An Evening With Vivien Leigh’, enjoyed sell-out performances at Crazy Coqs in Soho last autumn.

‘Cocktails With Vivien’ celebrates the life and career of stage and screen actress Vivien Leigh (Oscar-winning Gone With The Wind, A Streetcar Named Desire) in music and words. We will be presenting two shows, at 7pm and 9pm, as we expect these performances to be very popular.
With a narrative written and delivered by renowned playwright and performer Graham Roos, and music and songs performed by Carole Ashby and Sam Jewison, this enchanting show, presented on the anniversary of Vivien’s death, is sure to delight fans of Vivien Leigh everywhere.

Dedicated to Trader Faulkner, Vivien’s friend and fellow actor.

“A moving, magical portrait of one of our greatest actresses” (audience member at debut show)

‘Divine Fire’, one of our most enduring and popular music and words productions, comes to the OSO on 22 July. Performed by Viv McLean (piano) and Susan Porrett (narrator) and interwoven with some of Chopin’s loveliest piano works, Divine Fire traces the relationship between Fryderyk Chopin and the authoress George Sand, from their first meeting in Paris in 1836 until their parting in 1849.

Tickets for all shows cost £15 and are on sale now. All performances will be covid-secure.

Mei-Ting plays Beethoven & Bartok

International concert pianist Mei-Ting has wowed our audiences with his performances of music by J S Bach and Art Tatum, and we are delighted to present a recital piano music by Beethoven and Bartok.
Described as “bewitching” (Boston Globe) and “stunningly fluid” (New York Times), acclaimed pianist Mei-Ting Sun began his life on the concert stage at the prestigious Spring of Shanghai Festival in 1986 when he was just 5 years old. At 9, he left Shanghai for New York and eventually received Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Mannes College of Music, and a Doctorate from the Juilliard School.

Mei-Ting has won numerous awards and has been heard in recital across the globe. His career has led him to performances in 19 countries through five continents. He is currently on the teaching faculty of the Royal Academy of Music.
