Ellie Bignall

Ellie is a versatile London-based Jazz singer performing across a variety of musical styles. Her singing is very reminiscent of the forties and fifties and has been likened to Anita O’Day, Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday.

Ellie combines a love of the Great American Songbook with an interest in contemporary jazz. Her training on Trinity Laban’s Jazz degree course has given her a broad grounding across many genres including Jazz, Soul, Gospel, Classical and Musical Theatre.

Once described as a ‘teenage singing sensation’, she has performed at venues in and around London, including the Vortex Jazz Club, the Spice of Life, Oliver’s Jazz Bar, and St Anthony’s Jazz Club. In addition, she has participated in high-profile jam sessions around the world including at Ronnie Scott’s, Small’s Jazz Club in New York and the Jazzkeller in Frankfurt. In 2014 she invited onstage to sing at the American Legion Speakeasy in Harlem with the Jason Marshall Organ Trio.

Ellie’s various vocal tutors have included Anita Wardell, Ian Shaw, Brigitte Beraha, Lee Gibson, Norma Winstone, and Georgina Jackson. She has attended courses in London, France, Italy and New York, and has performed with notable musicians such as Pete Long, Clark Tracy, Mark Ridout, Barry Green, Rick Simpson, Reuben James and Ralph Wyld.
